We are so glad you are here!

League City UMC Children’s Ministry is committed to providing each child with a lifetime love of Jesus Christ. Our ministry programs encourage children’s spiritual, emotional, physical, and social development following the examples of Jesus Christ as taught in the Bible. We offer a broad array of activities and service opportunities in our children's program, and we are sure you and your child will find something they will love. We welcome you and your family to the Children’s Ministry of League City UMC. What a blessing and joy it is to have you and your family here!

Children and Worship on Sundays

Children are always welcome in worship and in the gathering area at the welcome center there are crayons to help keep them busy during sermon time. Also, we have a children's sermon during our  11 am worship service.  After the children's sermon, the children are invited to attend children's church (most 2nd and 5th Sundays) which is a special time for the kids to learn more about Jesus and how to be more like Him. This is optional and children can return to their seats with their families once the children's sermon is over.

Nursery Care for the Littlest

Nursery care is available for infants through pre-K during both worship services, Sunday school, and Bible studies. The nursery is available on Sunday mornings at 8:45 am until noon. Children are grouped in our nursery by age and are cared for in a secure, loving atmosphere by our nursery staff. Parents are asked to fill out a registration form for their child the first time attending his/her class. Each time you drop them off or pick them up, we ask you to sign in/out your children in their age appropriate classroom. Please advise our staff of any special requests or needs.

Sunday School for Children

Sunday School for ages 2yrs - 5th grade is from  9:55 to 10:45 am and offers a safe and fun environment for children to learn how to be a follower of Jesus. You will find the curriculum is age appropriate and geared for excitement and fun and our Sunday School teachers love to spend their Sunday mornings with our littlest Disciples.

Creative Corners Weekday Programs

During the week, League City United Methodist Church offers developmentally appropriate programs for young children. The programs provide a Christian environment filled with love and concern for each child. Teachers are well qualified and receive continuing education opportunities.

Acolytes are a very important part of our worship service at 11 am. They are responsible for lighting the altar candles during our traditional service. Experience is not necessary and it is an easy way for a child to learn about serving. If your child is interested and is in the 3rd grade and up we invite them to serve as Acolytes.

One of the summer opportunities we offer here at League City UMC is Vacation Bible School. This is a special time where kids come together for fun and fellowship, where faith lessons are taught in a way that kids love. In addition to the faith-building lessons of the Bible, the children are given opportunities to participate in mission projects during VBS. For one week, the volunteer staff and children experience immersion in a new time and place to learn Bible stories, verses, and songs.  Everyone is invited to come along as we take a week long journey into the Bible.

Confirmation

Confirmation classes are held each year for 5th grade students as they begin to form their ideas and opinions of who God is and His purpose for their life. They learn about the Methodist Church and about their home Church.  The Confirmation experience includes class time on Sunday mornings and afternoons, field trips and a retreat. These activities help students mentally and spiritually prepare for their decision to become a full member of the church family. They walk away from the class with new friends, a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and prepared to take the next step and join the youth group.
