On August 29th, 2021 Hurricane Ida made landfall as a Category 4 Hurricane along the Louisiana coast. This unprecedented storm has created significant damage and need along the Louisiana coast. This is a collection of opportunities to help our neighbors who are in need.
Anyone wishing to make a financial donation may give online at houstonresponds.org/donate. The money will be directed to Southwest Louisiana Responds coalition for Hurricane Ida relief.
You can support the ministries and response of the Louisiana Conference by giving directly to the Louisiana Annual Council at LA-UMC.org.
If you feel more comfortable giving directly through LCUMC, please drop off donations at the church office. We will be sure to get those donations to the relief effort.
If you want to help in the clean-up and repair efforts, the 4B disaster response network is a great place to start. Visit 4bresponse.org to find out more.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) provides immediate response to disasters throughout the world. One of their best known tools is the Flood Bucket which can be used for first response clean-ups after a disaster. Supporting UMCOR and its ministry helps prepare for future disasters.
Please continue to pray for those affected by this disaster. Pray for those directly impacted by the storm as well as their loved ones, many of whom live in our community.
